Brompton November Newsletter

Dear Brompton User,
The last few months have been extremely busy, we have attended a number of shows, won an industry award and have been working on a whole host of projects. We would like to share with you some of the latest developments at Brompton Bicycle.
The Brompton World Championship
Despite the inclement weather, this year’s World Championship was bigger and better than ever before. We had a great time and hope those of you who took part did so too. If you haven’t seen it already, there is a full report and video of the day. The 2011 Brompton World Championship will be held on Sunday 21st August; registration will open in early spring, when we officially launch the event. Please feel free to register your interest now so that we can alert you when the time comes.
Technical Videos There are now nine videos in the Technical section, made by our technical team, to assist Brompton owners with general Brompton maintenance. These range from simple folding and unfolding of the bike through to gear adjustment, we hope this is a useful visual addition to the instructions provided in the user manual. We plan on making more technical videos in the future; if there are any that you feel would be particularly useful, please let us know by emailing marketing@brompton.co.uk.
Carbon Calculator
Brompton Bicycle has collaborated with Cranfield University to create a carbon calculator; the calculator compares the amount of carbon used to manufacture a Brompton with the emissions of various alternative types of transportation. The calculator, accessible through the Brompton website, makes it possible to compare the carbon footprint of an individual bike with how far an individual would have to ride their Brompton, to make up for the emissions generated during its manufacture and distribution.
The release of the calculator coincides with the launch of the new CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) section of the Brompton website; the section, dubbed “Environment and Society”, is an important part of the company’s communications strategy. It highlights Brompton's commitment to the environment and localism and is also an educational resource, designed to be utilised by teachers and students.
To test out the carbon calculator yourself please visit: www.brompton.co.uk/cc
Best wishes,
The Brompton Team
